Commitment to Net Zero
We are proud to report that our operations for 2024–25 have achieved net zero carbon emissions. Our approach combines a proactive emissions reduction strategy with targeted offsets to ensure any residual emissions are fully balanced.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Current Emissions Reporting
Emissions Scope Description Value
Scope 1 Direct emissions (e.g. company vehicles, onsite fuel use) 0
Scope 2 Indirect emissions from electricity used in office space 0.210 tCO₂e (1,150.83 kWh × 0.1826 kg CO₂e/kWh)
Scope 3 Indirect emissions from employee commuting and travel Minimal – walking, cycling, electric car, charged with renewable energy, train use for in-person meetings
Reporting Year: 2024-25
EMISSIONS TOTAL (tCO2e)
Scope 1 0
Scope 2 0. 210 tCO₂e (1,150.83 kWh × 0. 1826 kg CO₂e/kWh)
Scope 3 Minimal – electric vehicle, car-pooling, train use for in-person meetings
Total Emissions 0.210 tCO2e
Emission Offset
Through the Mercedes Benz Climate Protection Contribution, we have offset 200kgCo2e of emissions by supporting the Safe Water project in Kenya and Nigeria.
Amount of carbon offset: 0.2 tCo2e
Total Gross emissions: 0
Maintaining a Net Zero Position
Looking ahead, we remain committed to maintaining this net zero status by continuing to prioritize low-emission practices, investing in clean technologies, and supporting verified carbon offset initiatives.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
We have implemented several initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint:
- Office Relocation: Moved to Clockwise Exeter, a co working space in May 2024. By consolidating multiple businesses under one roof, Clockwise reduces lowers overall energy consumption and emissions associated with heating, cooling, and lighting. Clockwise creates inclusive, accessible, and community-oriented environments. These spaces support local entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses by providing affordable, flexible work options.
- Energy-Efficient Systems: Co working Office equipped with LED lighting, lighting controls, and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS).
- Heat Pumps: Climate control via efficient electric heat pumps.
- Sustainable Commuting: Majority of staff cycle or walk; electric vehicle is used for essential car journeys.
- Digital Meetings: We hold most meetings digitally to reduce travel. For in-person meetings, we use trains or car-pool.
- Offsetting emissions through the Mercedes Benz Climate Protection Contribution program by supporting Safe Water project in Kenya and Nigeria. (200kgCO2e of carbon offset)
- Low Carbon Estates Limited has an environmental policy that outlines measures to reduce environmental impact and improve performance. Actions taken include using energy-efficient lighting and equipment, supporting the use of ultra-low and low-emission vehicles, promoting digital communication to reduce paper use, and implementing a recycling program for office materials. The company also considers environmental factors in procurement, encourages sustainable commuting, and conducts regular energy audits to monitor usage and identify improvements.
Carbon Reduction Targets
In the future we hope to maintain our net zero position with measures such as:
- Maintain zero operational emissions through co-working sustainability measures.
- Continue to minimize commuting emissions via active travel and sustainable transport.
- Annual review of co-working provider’s sustainability standards.
